Migrating Business Objects to Cloud

I have been very much intrigued by migration of BI applications to the cloud. I have read documentation which state that applications and data can be ported easily. However, I am still not very clear how the entire migration process works and if the BO admin has to play a role.

Is there any good documentation or webinars around this? My primary set of questions are:

1. On migrating BO to any public cloud, what is the typical process? Should BO platform be reinstalled on cloud and meta data migrated?

2. How is the security set up?

3. Is there a possibility to set up clusters in the cloud? Would it be necessary?

4. How is load balancing achieved?

I would be very much grateful if anyone of the readers is able to answer these questions for me.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

    Hi Vinayak,

SAP BusinessObjects Cloud can today connect to universes and leverage all the investment that was put there. This would allow you to start using BOC capabilities on top of familiar data and metadata. Security would today need to be managed in BOC, and there are different levels depending on how fine-grained you would need it to be (at the model, dimension or data level).

BOC is an Analytics platform, where all the deployment constraints are managed. If your objective is to host your existing BOE infrastructure in the Cloud, there are offerings based around SAP Hana Entreprise Cloud solutions, but BOC is a new application from that standpoint.

    Hope that helps,

    • Thanks Paul,

We have had a few cases wherein customers have shown interest of moving the existing BOE to the cloud. It would be interesting to understand the offerings around the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud which you have mentioned. Could you please point out any reference links if possible?

      Many thanks
