Crystal Reports - Figure out what database fields is behind a Group Name

I'm trying to reverse engineer some old CR reports, and I have no idea how to simply tell what field is being used by a Group. For example, when I look at the printed report I see "Doctor Name", and then when I open the CR I see "GroupName2", but I can't figure out how to tell which database field corresponds to Doctor Name! Can someone help!?

Thanks!

    Hi Jack,

In the Report Designer, if you look at the left margin, you should see Group Header #2. If you right-click on that, you have the option to Change Group from the menu. This will show you what field or formula is being used for the group.

    Hope this helps,

    Brian

Thanks Brian! When I do that I see a formula field called 'Group2' and when I edit the formula I see

      if {FieldName}=1 then ""

But, this is not the field being used by the report! I'm quite lost. I'll do some more digging to make sure I'm looking at the right things.

    Hi Jack,

I believe why you see that is because that is a template report used in some third party application and at run time they are replacing the name {FieldName} with the actual field.

If you can run the app and export the report to RPT format, that will have the actual field used in the report file.

If not then no way to figure it out without having some sort of exported result report.
