Hi,

In mySAP ERP 2005, xSS is now Web Dynpro for Java based and therefore needs to be installed on a system that is AS JAVA based - so no it is not possible to install it on the AS ABAP stack directly. You can install the AS JAVA as an add-in on the AS ABAP stack.

You can find the xSS installation information in the mySAP ERP 2005 installation master guide (http://service.sap.com/instguides). Please read this guide carefully as there are some SP-Stack dependencies between XSS and the mySAP ERP 2005 backend system.

I hope this helps,

Mike.

Dear Mike,

Thanks for that information. Can't we do the same using ITS (on ABAP stack) instead of installing JAVA AS on ABAP AS?

Raj.

Hi,

In mySAP ERP 2005 xSS (MSS/ESS) is now delivered using WebDynpro for Java technology, whereas in mySAP ERP 2004 xSS was an ITS based application. WebDynpro for Java requires AS JAVA for development and as a runtime. You can install AS JAVA as standalone or as an add-in and have it connected the AS ABAP based system.

mySAP ERP 2005 no longer uses ITS for any SAP delivered functionality.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Michael,

So can we assume from your above discussion that for the ECC6 WebDynpro for ABAP(WDA) we do not need any new components to be installed on the ABAP AS Stack besides the EA-HR and SAP_HR,EA-. Please confirm

Hi,

From the ABAP stack perspective, you just need the AS ABAP usage type activated. If you use the ALV functions for creating a print version you will need the BI JAVA usage type

For deployment you'll probably want to consider the EP or EPC usage types as you'll need to consider how you present the resulting web dynpro for ABAP's URLs to the end users.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Micheal,

I needed more information on WDA could you tell me whether my understanding is right about the following:

- I am using the ECC6 with ESS 1.0 and MSS 1.0.

- I want to develop the MSS PCR Forms along WDA and not with WebDynpro for Java but currently I am seeing that MSS 1.0 provides only Java based forms.

- My question is that whether we can still develop the Adobe forms in WDA rather than WDJ. Please clarify.

Regards,

Samar.
