Hi I've read the this thread but the resolution wasn't posted. https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3787302

I'm not able to start IDT. I get "An error has occurred. see the log file C:\Users\...\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14\workspace\.metadata\.log.".

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks!!

message from .log file:

I've also tried the following:

1. rename the .history and .projects folder under C:\Users\....\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\org.eclipse.core.resources

2. rename the .lsi files under C:\Users\....\AppData\Roaming\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\lsi

rename the bimodeler_14 folder and try again.

C:\Users\username\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14

did it ever start before ?
what was done prior to it not starting ?
The errors appear to be pointing to some stuff being missing.

IDT is really sensitive to file corruption. This has happened to me several times in the past, and this is what I've done to resolve it:

  1. Rename C:\Users\xxx\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14 to bimodeler_14-bad
  2. Start up IDT. It will create a new bimodeler_14 folder
  3. Copy the contents of the bimodeler_14-bad\workspace folder to the new bimodeler_14\workspace folder.
  4. For each entry (project) in the workspace folder, create a new project with the exact same name. When you open the project, all the old files should be there.
  5. As you open projects, you will be prompted for logon credentials. As you do this, the repository sessions dialog will be re-populated.

There might be a better way to recover that doesn't involve re-creating all the projects, but I haven't found one.
