Information required for HTTP Interface

Former Member

Hi,

I am novice to SAP tech and not sure whether i have selected the right category to post my message.

From SAP HTTP Interface 4.6 doc i undestood that HTTP Interface is used to communicate b/w SAP Server and the Content Server.

The Content server could be any External Storage System or SAP DB.

I would like to know whether it is possible that the Content Server could be replace with any of the Repository say like Integrated Document Management Repository or Content Manager.

From Content Management Service URL i have found following piece of information http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/26/72a1376f6cd903e10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

<b>'The interface is based on the HTTP protocol. The storage systems used are therefore independent of the applications, and SAP Content Server can be integrated into any application. SAP offers a certification service for the HTTP Content Server interface allowing vendors of 3rd party content servers to integrate their offering into SAP solutions.'</b>

Please suggest and advice me as soon as possible.

Regards,

Ravi Shah

Hello,

there are other repositories supported, e.g. Common Store by IBM. But I don't have a list - here you shoudl directly contact SAP.

But what you should keep in mind: the SAP Contentserver is part of the "standard" SAP license, and other tools will cost. That's the cause for some migration projects that we ran in the past.

kind regards,

Carl
