Double retirement of an asset

Hi All,

We have an issue in our project.

The asset value is 8534.96 in the books

A user has first retired an asset on 9th Sep-06 for 7254.71. Another user has thereafter retired the same asset with the date 3rd Sep-06 with the correct amount 8534.96 and the system accepted it.

The depreciation run was then executed during the monthend on 29-Sep-06, during which it gave an error for the retired asset.(Expense account not defined for depreciation below 0). Thereafter, she reversed both the documents (retirements). Even now, it is not allowing to complete the monthend Depreciation run for any asset.

We tried to recreate the scenario in TST. Unfortunately, SAP is not accepting a 2nd retirement of the same asset (which is as per SAP standard).

The screenshot of the AW01n for the asset is enclosed.

We posted this to SAP but did not get any workable resolution for this. Can you help or do you have any suggestion s that we can try out.

If we take the option and configure the Below 0 depreciation expense account, do you foresee any problems on this.

I will appreciate if someone suggests a solution for this nagging problem.

Thanks and regards

osman

Hi,

A temporary workaround could be to change the depreciation key for the one asset in issue to MANU (manual). After the change, system should allow you to run depreciation for other assets. You can later change the key back to initial key once the issue is sorted out and re run depreciation again.

Rgds.
