In an update rule definition for key figures can someone clarify that when we say overwrite each time a load is carried out the value is overwritten for a specific key combination whereas for addition a new set of records are added to the table for the key combination or is it the last value for the key combination is added to a new loaded value for the same key combination? Thanks

Niren,

This is true for updates rules on on ODS. In ODS, you have Key Fields and Data Fields. In case of overwrite, the data fields will be overwritten for the same combination of Key Fields.

For "Addition", the data fields will be added to the ODS object.

Thanks for that, therefore for addition a new set of records will be added to the ODS table therefore the ODS table is growing in size?

Not necassarily...if it's addition, it'll be addition for keyfigures..so the values will increase (or decrease if negative).

For characteristics, you will not see the option of addition.

When you are in a ODS,

for the same key combination the key figure value is substitute.

When you are in a cube,

for the same key combination the key figure value is added.

Exception for the non-cumulative key figure (definition in the IO configuration).
