Hi Team,

We upgraded and had spitted our solman sandbox from 7.1 to 7.2.

But now we have a requirement to build sandbox one more time by taking a copy from production which is 7.1 SP14 (SAP BASIS 7.02 SP17).Can you please tell me if is possible because the net weaver version of source and target are different now.

And also 7.2 is singe stack now and 7.2 is dual stack.

Thanks

Sid

Hi Sid,

We are also planning to upgrade our SolMan 7.1 SPS14 system to 7.2 SP03 on Oracle. We had once upgraded our Sandbox to 7.2 SP01 and split the dual stack, but now we need to plan again for a system copy from Production system to Sandbox and upgrade to 7.2 SP03. Can we directly do a DB backup restore and file-system restore to copy from Production system?

What was your approach and how did you proceed, what was the approximate time required?

Please advise.

Regards,

Priya

Hi,

in order to do system copy you need to run the whole procedure again. Restoring production database is not enough in your case, as your Kernel libraries are different.

Hi Bartosz,

I didnt understand when u said do the whole procedure again.

Cant i just do a db restore from 7.2 to 7.1 and also do a full file system restore which would also take care of the kernel?

Thanks

Sid

Hi,

if you perform the full system restore of course you can perform the system copy. I understood you just want to copy the database.

Hi Bartosz

Thanks for the reply.

We are planning to scrap our sandox solman which was already upgraded and splitted or order to do the system copy.

We are thinking of scrapping the while filessytem and install the vanilla version and do the system copy.

just want to know If some one has followed this approach or uninstalling from SWPM is the good approach?

Thanks

Siddharth

It should work, but I prefer to format the filesystem. I did uninstall for Diagnostic Agents and I didn't encounter any issues.

Hi Siddharth,

Uninstalling an SAP system using SWPM is the recommended option as it's a straight forward method which takes care of everything (like updating registry entries in Windows environment etc.).

On your initial query - You can delete the instance (7.2) and then do an export/import to get a new system on sandbox, it doesn't require any installation.
