Hello,

Do I have to install the SAP Netweaver 2004s ABAP & JAVA??? I have read the installing guides in abap, abap & java & java and every time it talks about the central instance a the central intance (SCS)

What are the difference. When I installed the 4.7 I only install the central and database, but know it has alot of installations. But with any help in the guides to tell you what you have to install.

Can someone help me please????????

Thank you very much...

1. Check first the system requirements.

System Requirements

Operating System:

Windows 2000 (Service Pack 3); Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 1) or Windows Server 2003

NTFS-File systems

Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Firefox 1.0 or higher

At least 1 GB RAM, 2 GB are recommended

Intel Pentium III/1.1 GHz or higher (or compatible)

14 GB free hard disk space (8.6 GB for the installed software and 4,9 GB for the installer software)

High-resolution monitor (1024x768 or higher, 256 colors)

Sun Microsystems J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_08 or 1.4.2_09 (Sun JDK 1.5 not tested)

Please navigate to J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_09 installation archive site if you need to install this software.

If you have already installed SAP products on your computer, you must ensure that none of the systems are called "J2E".

The file C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\services (Windows 2000) or C:\Windows\system\32\drivers\etc\services (Windows XP) must not include an entry for the ports 3601, 3201 and 50100 to 50130. A possible entry can be excluded by using the hash symbol (#).

If no DHCP server is available on your network (which dynamically determines the IP address) or your computer is not connected to any network, you need to install the virtual interface adapter MS Loopback Adapter.

To use Interactive Forms based on Adobe software, you must install the necessary credential file and activate it using a unique password. Download the latest credential and password from SDN.

2. If necessary, install the SUN J2SE SDK version 1.4.2_09.

3. Start setup.bat from the directoy where you unzipped this installer software to.

4. In SAPInst, use the values as followed:

Wizard page name Actions to be done on this page

Welcome to SAP NetWeaver 2004S SR 1 Sneak Preview Full Edition Choose Installation, click Next

License Agreement Read, and if you agree, scroll down, check the 'I have read...' checkbox, click Next

Java System > Java Development Kit Enter the location of your local JDK installation (e. g.: C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08)

SAP System > General Parameters (Optional, appears only if no sapmnt or saploc file share is set up in the system already.) Choose the drive for the engine files (Database files will be defined on a subsequent page)

SAP System > Master Password For some features to work as preconfigured, leave the default, abcd1234

SAP System > Windows Domain (Optional, only if no SAP system user accounts exist already in the system) Choose Local installation. You need to have Administrator privileges with your current user account.

SAP System > OS User Passwords Default is abcd1234, ie. the master password. If the password does not match you Windows password policy (eg., 10 letters, at least on digit), installation will fail.

SAP System > Database Parameters Leave the default, J2E

MaxDB > Installation Drives Choose the drives where the database parts are to be installed.

Prerequisite Check The installation routine will complain if the OS is not MS Windows Server 2003 Server Enterprise Edition. However, MS Windows XP Professional (at possibly others) should work either.

MaxDB > Database Users Leave the default password, abcd1234, ie. the master password you specified

MaxDB > Database Parameters Leave the defaults

MaxDB > Log Volumes Choose the drive for the log area of the database, leave the log size (1000MB) as is

MaxDB > Data Volumes Define the drives for the two data areas of the database. Leave the sizes as are (1300MB).

MaxDB > Java Database Schema Password Leave the default, abcd1234, ie. the master password you specified

SAP System > Secure Store Settings Leave the default, abcd1234, ie. the master password you specified

MaxDB > Create Database Statistics Leave the default

SAP System > SCS Instance Leave the defaults

SAP System > Central Instance Leave the defaults

SAP System > SDM Leave the default, abcd1234, ie. the master password you specified

SAP System > Unpack Archives Leave the defaults

Parameter Summary A last chance to change installation parameters. Click Start to finally start the installation procedure.

5.

6. For your convenience and to minimize system resources the server must be started manually using the SAP Management Console:

 find shortcut for "SAP Management Console" on your desktop or in "Start" -> "All Programs"

 open the SAP Management Console

 in the left panel expand SAP Systems node, you will find the installed system (J2E)

 right-click on J2E and "Start" the system

This process takes about 45-100 minutes depending on your system. You might check the status by expanding the nodes. A green dot indicates a successful start. If the status turns to “stopped” you might try to right-click on J2E -> Stop, wait for all processes to be stopped and repeat the steps above.

Installation of SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio

Start the Installer and choose Run this program from its current location in the upcoming pop-up window and follow the instructions.

Installation of MaxDB Database Manager and SQL Studio

For database maintenance, the included MaxDB Database Manager can be used. The installation file can be found at <zip_extract_folder>\MaxDB_7.6.0_RDBMS_Installations_Build_18__ID__51031711\MAXDB_WINDOWS_I386\SETUPS. At the same location you'll find the MySQL MaxDB SQL Studio.

Getting started

 password: <master password as specified during installation>

MaxDB's Database Manager Operator login values

 username: control

 password: <master password as specified during installation>

 On the Cluster tab, choose Server 0 -> Services -> Document Services Configuration

 On the Runtime tab, select Credentials

 Choose Browse to search for the name of the credential and then Select

 In the Alias field, enter the alias of the credential you installed, for example ReaderRights. (Entries for the name of the credential are case-sensitive)

 In Password field, enter the password you received together with the credential you installed (filename.txt in the archive). Confirm the password again and then click Add

Hi David,

You are not forced to use the BPs. Anyhow, if you don't want to use RI, go to http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000360072006E/NW2004s_AllDBs.htm and choose the DB you want to use, the OS and "Java". With that you have your installation guide...

Hope it helps

Hi David,

> Do I have to install

> the SAP Netweaver 2004s ABAP & JAVA???

No, for EP the Java stack is sufficient.

The fastest way to get an 2004s EP installation running is using the RapidInstaller, see for example https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/23f5f0ed-0b01-0010-4b91-a25...

Hope it helps
