How do I convert DATS format to CHAR format or vice versa...?

DATA: v_date like sy-datum,
v_char(10).
V_char = v_date.
write v_char.

have a look at this ecample...
data: l_dats type dats.
data: l_date(10).
*l_dats = sy-datum.
*
*write l_dats to l_date dd/mm/yy.
*
*write:/ l_date.
l_date = '20061108'.
l_dats = l_date.
write:/ l_dats dd/mm/yy.

Please check this:
data: l_date1 type sy-datum,
l_date2 type sy-datum,
l_char(8) type c.
l_date1 = sy-datum.
write:/ l_date1.
l_char = l_date1.
write:/ l_char.
l_date2 = l_char.
write:/ l_date2.
