Hey everyone,

Please excuse my ignorance as I am very new to Cloud Apps Studio. I need to create a drop down list in my custom B.O that is programmatically filled with all users in the system. What steps should be taken to create the drop down list?

Below is an example of the element I need to make a drop down list;

[Label("EmployeeCredited1")] element cred1:LANGUAGEINDEPENDENT_EXTENDED_Text;

Thanks,

Clay

Hello Melissa,

All users of the whole system? That may be very much. Are you sure?

Whta do you want to achieve this this dropdown listbox?

Hi Melissa,

I agree with Horst + putting a lot of entries in a dropdown box will make your browser slow.

A better idea would certainly be to use an object value selector ("F4 help") for your field. This would give you the autocomplete feature + you can filter the users.

Thanks. I have a custom BO with an EC. The EC is what needs the drop down with all EmployeeID. How can I do this? The tutorial you provided will not help, as from my understanding, I cannot add an extension field to an EC.

Thanks

Hi Melissa,

it's actually much easier in an Embedded Component:

  1. Add your Employee field to the screen.
  2. Select your Employee field
  3. Change DisplayType (default = InputField) to ObjectValueSelector
  4. Enter OVSComponent in section ValueHelp (the OVS component is the popup that appears and allows you to select the employees).

In order to find out the correct OVSComponent, just open any standard screen that contains an employee field and check which OVS Component they use.

Hope this helps
Stefan

Stefan,

Thanks a ton for the help. I'm getting closer to my end goal. But now I am running into a problem with the OVS. When opened, they are causing an error and contain no employee data. Do I need to do any special binding or inport?

Thanks,

Clayton
