Upgrading BI platform to 4.1 SP8

Hi,

We have a plan to upgrade existing BI platform(SAP BO 4. SP12) to SAP BO 4.1 SP8.

Before that we would like to sync UAT with Production,what is the best way to do sync between UAT and production..?

Hi Brahma,

The best way to sync your UAT with production is Promotion Management.

Although you can also do backup and restore procedure.

1) Take a cold backup of your Production CMS database and File store. Restore it in your production CMS database and filestore.

2) Recreate a Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) and done do not start the SIA. Navigate to properties of SIA>> Configuration and change the "CLUSTER NAME".

3) Start the SIA.

Once done your UAT will become a replica of your production.

Use promotion managemnet and move reports/universe/connections in UAT.

May i know how we can can sync security (folder level and access levels).

* we have a plan to take a complete backup from Prod to UAT or Promotion to UAT from Prod, is it works.?

I don't know how are you using UAT as a system.Security also you can move with moving folders/reports from Prod to UAT.

Migration will work in both ways but question is Prod always a controlled environment.before doing anything check what is the process you have to follow.
