We are implementing Employee Central and we would like to know the difference between Job and Position within employee central. Once configured in employee central how would this affect other modules like Performance and Goals, Recruitment etc. We are a small organisation.

Below are example positions - how would you classify the jobs for these position? Would it be a one-to-one relationship between position and job, or would you have a job like "Senior SAP Consultant" which links to items 6, 8, 12, 13, 16 and 17? Or what is the best practice? What do we need to keep in mind when defining the jobs and positions? (i.e. dependencies from other modules like P&G, learning, recruitment, compensation, etc.)

No. Position 1 Business Administrator 2 Managing Director 3 Receptionist 4 Sales Director 5 FI Director 6 Senior SAP Basis Consultant (Contractor) 7 Junior Basis Consultant 8 Senior SAP FI Consultant (Contractor) 9 Medio SAP FI Consultant 10 Medio SAP FI/MM Consultant 11 Medio SAP MM Consultant 12 Senior SAP Technical Consultant 13 Senior SAP Technical Consultant (Contractor) 14 Medio SAP Technical Consultant 15 Junior SAP Technical Consultant 16 Senior SAP HCM Consultant 17 Senior SAP HCM Consultant 18 Medio SAP HCM Consultant 19 Junior SAP HCM Consultant 20 Junior SAP HCM Consultant 21 Junior SAP SuccessFactors Consultant 22 Junior SAP SuccessFactors Consultant

Job is a generic one which has broader roles and responsibilities. Position is specific to roles and responsibilities.

Eg -

Job - Manager

Position - HR Manager, Finance Manager. This is position which is specific to the role to be played.

Job is nothing but resposibilities to be done by an employee and position is holded by the employee. There is relation between job and position.job is done by a postion holder..Positions differ from jobs. A job is not concrete but rather the basis for the creation of various positions with similar tasks and characteristics.
