Meaning of * and NOT * in select options (2004s)

Hello everybody,

we're testing our new BW 7.0 and we wonder about the meaning of some select options in the variable entry dialog. Between the button "Personalize variable" and the from entry field there is a drop down box, where you can choose "=", "<=" etc. We are not sure about the meaning of "*" and "NOT *". Are there any docs or help files available? I searched already help.sap.com under Netweaver 2004, but I didn't succeed in finding anything...

Many regards

Martin

 • = anything..

S* = starting with S

S = starting with anything but contains S

If you have exclusively NOT* option then it should be

NOT* = nothing.

Hello Manga

Thank's a lot for your quick info! One additional question: what's the difference between NOT without and with the "=" sign. It seems to have the same effect: the statement in the select option is negated.

NOT = 'S' -> means anytihng other than S

It is always negation when you use NOT.
