hi,
my scenario is (cremas.04)Idoc->Xi->file,
i made necessary <b>ale configurations on R/3 server</b> like:
1. Creating logical systems and assigning clients to LS.
2. Creating Distribution models and maintaining them.
3. RFC destination
4. Creating port for the rfc destination.
5. Maintaining Partner profiles.
Accordingly on my <b>XI server the ale configurations</b> like.
1. Rfc destinations
2. idx1.
3. idx2( to load the meta data of idoc)
my question is in the xiserver, <b>the idx2 transaction is it a mandatory step???</b> or else only the idx1 transaction is sufficient..
can anyone guide me...
Hi,
IDX2 contains only a <b>CACHE</b> (<i>one more !</i>) of IDoc metadatas (structures!).
It's NOT necessary to have it and you don't configure it, because this cache will be automaticaly filled by XI when an idoc will be sent/received.
You just need to use IDX1 in order to create an IDoc port which will be used by this cache and for IDoc processing.
As this is a cache, when you import a new version of a specific IDoc, then sometimes there is cache problem. To solve that, go to IDX2 and delete the corresponding metada.
Hope this help to understand the utility of IDX2.

Hi,
Michal is right. It is not mandatory. Actually it is useless to import metadata manually if you are sending or receiving IDOCs from SAP systems. Remember to delete entry if you change IDOC structure.

yes.. its mandatory.. because we have to load the metadata to port..then only it will post the data to idoc structure.. the structure of the idoc must be loaded to port..

hi,
no it is not as the data will be loded during the
first message flow
"metadata of this type can be either called directly at runtime or loaded to the Integration Server beforehand."
