It should be started only by SIDadm.

JSPM is the tool to apply support package, you can see all info at the link:

When use this tool you have to pay particular attention to prerequisite, in my experience I had a problem with disk space under file system /usr/sap/<SID>, if you apply a lot of support package you need the space indicate below:

From the help online "The deployment of the SCA files from the global EPS inbox directory is handled by SDM. If the total size of an SCA is X MB, at least 2 times X MB must be free under the /usr/sap/<SID>/<Central instance name>SDM/root directory. In addition, during the deployment X MB must be free temporarily under the /usr/sap/<SID>/<Central instance name>/SDM/program/temp directory. Therefore, a total of 3 times X MB must be free under the /usr/sap/<SID>/<Central instance name>/SDM directory"

In order to not have a big /usr/sap/<SID> i solved my problem creating link to the temp directory where jspm save .sca package.
