I know that it is remote callable across the systems. why the necessity that it should be a remote callable ?

    When you have the necessaty to transfer information from one SYSTEM to another.

    Or for example from R3 to EP.

    Or another milion of cases.

    There are so many functionalities that SAP R/3 has which are within SAP.

    By making use of the RFCs we can use the rich functionalities which were closed within the R/3 box till then.
