XS Advanced - what is the best platform for product development for SAP Cloud Platform

Hello Community,

We want to develop an application for the SAP Cloud Platform (formerly know as HANA Cloud Platform). We therefore have signed up for the "Innovation pack for SAP Cloud Platform". This is up and running - so far so good.

BUT - we read that one should develop HANA Applications using the XS - Advanced features as this is currently seen as the future.
Unfortunately XSA is not yet available on the SAP Cloud Platform. In January SAP predicted the availability to be in Q1/Q2 2017. (See SAP Product Road Map - SAP HANA Cloud Platform page 100 / 101).

This is to long for us to wait - especially since it is not even sure that it will come in Q2.

What are our options to start to develop on HANA using XSA?
HANA Trial - doesn't have XSA available either
HXE - Has XSA, but we found it not stable enough (XEON Server with 32GB)
Hosting our own HANA installation isn't an option either (we are to small of a company)

Appreciate your thoughts on this

Mark

Hi Mark,

Have you tried the HANA Express edition? Please read about it on the link below.

Thanks,

Hi Jin,

Thanks for you help!

Have you tried the HANA Express edition

Yes - I used the abbreviation HXE for HANA Express Edition in my post above.
In the meanwhile we have setup the "SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 SPS 12" edition on Azure via CAL. It is only HANA 1.0 SPS 12 and not HANA 2.0 but it seems to work. However it is a bit to early to comment on stability.

kind regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

We are working on getting XSA (HANA 2.0) on our Cloud Foundry release in May 2017. In mean time, you might want to play with our CF beta release.

Sorry about this again,

Jin
