Alternative mateial in during MRP run

Hi all,

Our client has a two similar material A & B.

When MRP is runned it system should check the material A, if no material is exist, then it should check Material B.

If material B is exist and that’s not enough to available to promise, then it should create a planned order for remaining quantity for A material only.

We have checked alternative item group in BOM, its not suits our requirement.

Any type of solution is highly appreciated.

Have you tried using the discontinuation indicator and the follow up material in the MRP4 view? This may work for what you have in mind.
