ALV FMs

Hi,

what is the main differences between alv_list & grid when compared to

REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE and REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY, when should we go for fieldcatalog_merge and hierseq_list.

BR,

ravi.

REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY is a different kind of list from the REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY or LIST_DISPLAY, it allows you to have two levels of data, a header and detail, the header data can be expanded to show the detail data. The ALV_LIST_DISPLAY or ALV_GRID_DISPLAY only shows 2D tabular data. Meaning 1 line. The heirseq, will show the 1 line, but multple detail lines underneath. I hope I didn't confuse you here.

The FIELDCATALOG_MERGE function module is strictly for building the fieldcatalog and does not actually display any list.

    HI,

The FM REUSE_ALV_FIELDCATALOG_MERGE is used to populate the field catalog for the given structure, internal table..

But the FM REUSE_ALV_HIERSEQ_LIST_DISPLAY is for actual displaying the hierarical sequence display ...like the one ..
