SAP ERP 2005 ECC 6.0 - START_SHDI_FIRST

Hi,

Help!!! I'm currently in the upgrade phase START_SHDI_FIRST trying to start the Shadow Instance and received this message on the upgrade:

SAPup> ERROR: Starting system failed,

rc=0 To analyse the errors during start of shadow instance, view files 'STARTSFI.LOG' and 'DEVTRACE.LOG'

in directory '/usr/sap/put/log' Repeat phase until shadow instance is started and you can log on instance number '29'.

    Hi Ramon,

    did you check /usr/sap/put/<SID>/global/ms_acl_info?

    here you must allow hostname and hostname.domain.

    Hi Ramon,

    I really like this error ...

    it happens in 100% nof all ECC 6 upgrades - and obviously SAP likes it as well ...

    You have to change the file as Guido suggested and write in a "*" instead of the local server name - otherwise localhost ⚠️ is not allowed ...

      Hi Ramon,

      Are you still able to see file dev_ms in the shadow instance's work directory (DIR_PUT/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nn>/work)? If the error is the one Guido and Volker suspect you should find something like 'client ... is not in acl list, access denied'.

      The problem and a different workaround than the one given above are described in SAP note 822296, background is given in note 821875.
