Essbase Integration

Hi Gurus,

I have a requirement to extract data from Essbase (Hyperion) to BW 3.5. From what I know, esssbase is somewhat linked to SAP erp. I trying to use java connector by utilizing the UD connect tool. Will this be the right approach? Please help.
