Clarification: Extraction from R3 to BW

Former Member

Hello,

Can you give all the steps and transactional codes (involved to see the table on R3 and to retrieve data) if I have to retrieve data from the standard general ledger extractor to BW environment?

The extraction is supposed to be delta with Fiscal Year/Period as selection criteria.

By the way, what actually an extractor? A program or just a table of fields?

I have already seen different SAP links and I have the general idea but can you directly answer my question if you were in front of a computer and needs to implement what I described?

Thanks.

hi amanda,

Extractor z nothing but Datasource which u r using in R/3 say 2LIS_02_HDR.

steps involved in R/3 extraction

1. Go to tcode LBWE

2. choose the Data source i.e extractor which suits to ur business scenario.

3. u need maintain the DS i.e where u can add or remove the fields 4m d extract structure....we can add d fields simply tranfering fields from Communication Structure to the Extract Structure.

4.u have generate the Data Source .

5.Activate the Data source.

6.choose which type of update is needed i.e it could be either Direct, Unserialised V3 or Queued delta.

7.delete the setup tables by tcode LBWG.

8.run statitistical setup by tcode OLI*BW, * depends upon the application say 2-purchasing,11-sales order, 12-shipment, 13-billing....etc.

goto RSA6 in R/3 system and say transport the DS.

9.Go to bw system->source system in Modelling say replicate DS and activate the transfer rules and do all d need work on bw side .

regards

bhaskar...

Hi Amanda,

Adding to the above, Extractors are programs.

0fi_gl_6 would be the extractor which you are looking for and it is delta enabled...

rsa5 - to activate the datasource...

after you activate you can check it in rsa6...

goto rsa3 (extractor checker) to see how many records you have or to look at the records...

for tables you can use se16 or se11 ...tables would GLT0..

so after you activated the datasource and checked using RSA3...goto BW -->source system and replicate datasources...you then install the Infosource in BW for this..transfer rules...cube and the update rules...

assign points if it helps
