data replication

To download the R/3 reference customer to the CRM system and use him as CRM reference business partner,I followed the path given in Configuration guide. It is as follows:

CRM ->Master Data -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings ->Maintain Reference Business Partner for Consumers.

Then in the menu ,I selected ENVIRONMENT and INITIAL DOWNLAOD REFERENCE CUSTOMER,but the INITIAL DOWNLOAD REFERENCE CUSTOMER is greyed out and I can't download R/3 reference customer to the CRM system and there is already one REFERENCE BUSINESS PARTNER maintained. When I'm trying to change the existing partner no.,I got an error message:" the partner number of the reference partner cannot be changed".

Can anyone tell me ,how to enable INITIAL DOWNLOAD REFERENCE CUSTOMER button and download the R/3 reference customer to CRM?

Thanks,

Prasu

    Hi Prasu,

The initial download of reference customer is only a one time activity. I do not think you can change the business partner you specify here. You may be better off using the same business partner by maintaining the sales area data for this BP. The img documentation will give you a clear picture.

    Hope this will help.

    Thank You,

    Hi Prasu,

The download of the reference customer is logged in CRM in table CRMC_BUPA_CONSUM. After initial download, the option to download it is indeed greyed out, as a result of the entry in this table. After deletion of this entry however, the download will only succeed if you also remove the link between the reference BP and the GUID in CRM. This is logged in CRM table CRMM_BUT_CUSTNO. Remove the entry from there and try downloading the reference customer again. This can also be another customer, if you change the settings in R/3 (VD07).

If even this doesn't work, then remove the entry from both mentioned tables and from R/3 table CRMKUNNR.

It's not the prettiest of solutions, but in my case it worked (without removing the entry in CRMKUNNR).

    Kind regards,

    KZ

    Hi Prasu,

It may not be easy to remove the reference BP in CRM, if the reference BP is used in transactions.

I had the similar issue before and for some reason (SAP says, it can't be done)I am not able to change or remove the existing reference BP in CRM and also unable to download another reference customer from R/3.

The quick workable solution is stick to the existing reference customer in CRM and make changes to it as per your R/3 reference customer, for e.g. sales area etc. Link the R/3 reference customer with CRM reference BP via 'External BP Number' field on 'Identification tab'in CRM BP.

Whenever a consumer is replicated from CRM to R/3, the system automatically link the replicated consumer to R/3 reference customer. i.e. the sales area data will get inherited from R/3 reference customer.

    Hope this solves your issue
