What are the best practice to AA?

Hello all:

I´am planning to use this InfoCube, Period Values 0FIAA_C02 but I am not sure becuse there is another cube with the same name, Period Value (Delta) 0FIAA_C13. Do you know if these are the same or one can be replaced for the other.

An finally, Do you know if this is the data flow that I have to build for AA?

The help file is EXACTLY the right way to do it from version 3.2 onwards

The period cube needs data from the deprecation datasource and from the delta feed fromthe movements ODS

It is best to put them all in - then you don;t have to worry about b/f figures for the year being calculated from the period ODS - you use the annual values ODS for that

The business content Asset History Shhet is a bit "naff" - so use this as the basis to write your own

I actually link all three cubes into a multicube and built my asst history sheets off that

Be careful with volumes though - the period values ODS can create an example of 144 records fro each movement from the movwements ODS

movement x 3 currency types x 4 deprecation areas x 12 periods

Also set th depreciation simulation flag to whiever one is appropriate on the extractor (drastically cuts down or icnreases run time depending on which flag you use)

Thanks a lot Simon for you help. I will do exactly what you said. But I still have a question. What do you exactly main with volumes though? And this flag that you talking about where can I find it and what is his functionality?

The flag is the AA simulation flag - I forget whats it s called but it exists in the BWOM_SETTINGS table

DO a search on the help files or OSS

What it does is this

For planned depreciation you have three choices

Simulate as per complex R3 rules (ie the config for deprecation key) per period till the end of the year

Simulate as per a simple straight line till the end of the year (thus R3 is not the the same as BWs planend depreciation not posted)

or

NO simulation thus no planned depreciation available

Speak to your users ask what they want
