Hi Jungwirth--
If you install the BC objects a copy of it will be created under modelling ,.. where u can edit and modify and make use of BC objects. Also if you are installing again the BC objects with different Grouping then you have to selct for Match Check box.In doing so it will avoid duplications ..
Hope i clarrified your query.

vishwa.
Hi,
To add to the comments already made, its always a good idea to copy std objects and then modify them. Its a SAP recommended best practice not to touch std objects unless you have to, but copy them over to another and then customize it.
The disadvantage is during the version upgrades and patch upgrades. You don't know how the customized objects will work with std code. The more the customization, the more the testing.
So, its basically a balancing act.
Cheers,
Kedar
Thanks for your suggestions -
but I know, that there's made a copy, if you are activating the businesscontent. What I meant, was copying the activated infoobject to a customer specific oject (eg. ZCOSTCENTER) Because if you are using the original object and modifying this infoobject (compounding), there are errors occurring activating more businesscontent afterwards, because the 0soursystem is missing in the cubes, infosources, that you want to activate. So you always face some troubles using the original infoobjects and modfiying this infoobjects.
