Hi,

Correlation as the name implies is used to correlate messages in a BPM.

Consider a case when you have multiple Receive Steps inside a BPM.

You receive a message 1 and are waiting for message 2. Before message 2 beacomes available, you get another Message 1 and so, have multiple BPM's now waiting for Message 2.

Now, when Message 2 is available, how do you decide to which BPM instance this Message belongs? Correaltion helps insuch cases to corelate the messages.

Multi Mapping is any mapping that involves N numbver of Source / target messages or both.

Bhavesh

Ref checklist - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6d/94364296f1b26be10000000a155106/content.htm

Correlation is used in BPM to relate messages say based on a particular field. In case the correlation is broken a new instance of BPM is executed.

2. How is Correlation different from Multi message mapping ?

multi mapping is convertion of N message to 1 or 1:N or N:M
