Issue with initialization of planning area

Hi all,

I am having an issue with SCM 5.0 server. It is a newly installed one.

The issue is relating to the initialization of Planning Areas in APO.

Initialize the Planning area is going on fine but after few hrs or so, the planning Area is automatically deinitializing. In this period, neither the live cache nor the database are being stopped.

Actually, planning area will not be deinitialized even if live cache or database are stopped.

It is happening with both predefined and custom defined planning areas.

Do we have to do any initial settings because its a new server???

Any help relating to this issue would be highly appreciated.

Regards

Raghu

    Hi Raghu,

I'll summarise whatever i understood from your question, correct me if i'm wrong.

You are trying to create time series for certain period, after few hours job getting failed ( automatically deintializing ).

If thats your problem then probably check no of CVCs existing for Plng Obeject Structure before create no of CVC's, because if you are creating time series for huge period, it require large memory.

If no of CVCs are huge then try to delete as much as possible, then create time series for planning area with less no of CVCs. You can create CVCs after intializing the palnning area as only 1 cvc required to create time series.

    Hope this will help you.

      Hi Jagadeesh,

You got the meaning of the question wrong...

I am not trying to schedule any job for activating the Planning Area.

      I am doing it manually,

I have no issues with activating the planning area(Creating time series), the issue is the planning area is deactivating automatically after 2 or 3 hrs...

And No of CVC is just 1.

      Regards

    ok, i understood your issue.

Check in T.code SM37, whether the following job : ' /SAPAPO/TS_PAREA_DE_INITIALIZE ' is scheduled every 2 to 3 hours. If so it will deintialize every 2 to 3 hours.

Check the released jobs in system using SM37 and check the job frequency.

If you find the solution for this, please let me know also.

    Regards,

    Jagadeesh.

Pls assign points if it helps.

    Hi Raghu,

I want to help but i have a few questions about the "symptoms" you are encountering. When you say "the planning area is automatically being deinitialized", what errors do you encounter here exactly? For example, do you still see your CVCs in the MPOS? are there any error messages appearing anywhere? (e.g. interactive planning table) When you check the "created time series" in transaction /SAPAPO/MSDP_ADMIN, do you still see the correct time series horizon? Please enumerate the "symptoms" 😊

    Thanks.
