What is number range (SAP HCM)? How to create a custom number range?

I'm new to SAP. Please help me with the question below.

What is number range? What is internal and external? How to use existing number range and how to create a custom number range?

Hi Sid,

First, let us know what is the actual requirement you have based on that can give your clarity.

If its personnel number assignment, there are two options; internal (System allots number default) & External (User can choose).

Go to PA04 (Personnel number range) or OONR (Objects range) and check the help document for more information on standard.

To create custom range, it also needs abap work...this link may help you.
