Edit text validation

Hi,

I am having an edit text box with itemcode infomation i want to validate the itemcode entered is correct or not.

for that i am capturing the lostfocus event of this Edittext ,On validation if the edittext is empty i want to display message and Edittext should be Gotfocused.
