why dont i see long text in ODS?

Hello All,

I am trying to create a query for Line items for a particular commitement item, all the transactions posted in for that cmmt item in that particular month.

I see that from my datasource to ODS i have mapping for Long description 0TXTLG, but why dont i see description when I display data from ODS? I see 0TXTLG infoobject in data fileds when I see overview of ODS but again when i try to see display data I dont see that field?

Can someone help me to understand what is happening?

First thing, please run RSA3 in source system and see if the datasource is delivering that information. If it is not then that is a different issue.

If it is, then check the PSA (if you have that option enabled )for the data load.

Then check the active table of the ODS. Right click ods, manage, contents tab. Active data and check if that field has information. If no then check Infosource/update rules of the ODS if that field is mapped.

I check everything that you said. I can see the long description till the active data in ODS. and the mapping is also done.

Now I dont see only in ODS, I guess I am not able to point down to which infoobject is this description attached.

Summary

Symptom

The 'long description' data field (0TXTLG) is used in the ODSobjectcustomer single item object (0FIAR_O03). It cannot be displayed in queries and InfoCubes that read data from the ODS object.

Other terms

Customer single item, 0FIAR_O03, 0FI_AR_4

Reason and Prerequisites

The 'long name' data field cannot be displayed because the relevant characteristic 0TXTLG has the property 'attribute only'.

Solution

This note can only be used if there is still no data in the ODS object.

As of BI Content Release 3.30, the0TXTLGInfoObject is replaced by the 0POSTXT InfoObject.

The 'attribute only' indicator is not set for the 0POSTXT InfoObject.

Solution:

Create InfoObjectZPOSTXT. Use InfoObject 0TXTLG as a template. Delete the 'attribute only' and 'characteristic is document attribute' properties.

Delete InfoObject 0TXTLG from InfoSources 0FI_GL_4, 0FI_AR_4, 0FI_AR_3, 0FI_AP_4 and 0FI_AP_3, and insert InfoObject ZPOSTXT. You have to adjust the communication structures.

Then cancel the 0TXTLGcharacteristic from ODS objects 0FIGL_O02, 0FIAP_O03 and 0FIAR_O03. Insert the ZPOSTXT characteristic where you deleted 0TXTLG.

Selectthe 'overwriting' update type in the update rues of these InfoProviders. Activate the update rules of the changed InfoProviders.

Activate all changed objects.

I am going through the note, but I wanted to write down what I researched till now. The text of that commitment is not what I am looking for I can see that.

I am trying to see the text thats coming from transaction data.

so basically the difference between the 0TXTLG and ZPOSTXT basically as per the note is just the "Attribute only" check box only is it ?

yes, you are right.

a bit confuse ... you said can see data in ods active table, but cannot see in ods ? how do you see the data ? ods->manage->contents->active table ? or from query ?

if you cannot see in active table then check update rules and everything as mentioned, if query try the solution in that oss note.
