Archiving XI messages

Hi friends,

I have couple of doubts regarding archiving of XI messages.

When we go to tcode sxmb_adm we see two options 1.schedule archiving job and 2. define interfaces for archiving and retention periods. What is the difference between these two and when to run the archive job and where thes archive messages gets stored?
