Distributing BW data to Mobile Clients

Hi experts,

in BW you combine workbooks and the relevant users in a role, thereby allowing those users to call up the workbooks assigned to that role in mobile sales.

Now I have the following problem while distributing workbooks from BW to CRM->Mobile Clients:

Doesn't matter which user (existing or not existing in MSA) I assign to a role, every mobile user is able to call my BW reports after I subscribed the workbooks to a mobile client! So there is no actual user restriction.

How can I restrict BW data to determined mobile users?

Thanks in advance

Mirko

Hi Mirko,

One last thing is if you are testing this with different users on the same mobile client of course they will see the data as this site is subscribed to this information.

Hopefully you are not doing this as it is incorrect testing but thought I better mention it.

Hi Mirko,

The only mobile users that can see the report are those that have the subscription assigned to them. That is how data distribution works in mobile sales. So simply do not assign the subscription to the sites (users) that don't need to receive the report.

The subscriptions from memory are twofold - one for the report and one for the queries. You can then have the same report but different data on each due to the queries being different. Of cause the variant for the query would have to be assigned to user in the transaction SMOBILEBW.

Hopefully this makes things clear as I can't explain anything further.

Good luck

Hi Andrew,

but these variants are only for queries with variables I think? I create a role "ROLE_MOBILE" in BW and assign both an user "USER_MOBILE" and a workbook to this role. After subscribing this workbook to a mobile client, there should be only "USER_MOBILE" be able to watch the report of "ROLE_MOBILE" (aloud sap documentation)! But in fact all my mobile users can access the report in mobile sales! Hopefully my problem is clearer now.

Hi Mirko,

In transaction SMOBILEBW you can define the specfic variants to individual users.

In transaction SMOEAC you can create subscriptions on queries which has a criteria of user (from memory sorry can't check on current customer system).

This is how you can define user specfic reports in mobile sales.
