Hi reza,

Sidharth is right in his post that the Visual Administrator is not included in the Java EE 5 edition. And in fact, Visual Administrator will no longer be available in the next version of NetWeaver Application server. It is being replaced by a new, web-based administration tool for online administration of your <b>landscape</b>!

The Java EE 5 Edition also contains this web-based tool with limited functionality.

To use the new admin tool, you need to install it first by executing just a BAT file. Go to <Install_dir>\JP1\JC00\j2ee\NWAdmin directory and execute install.bat. Also, refer to the readme.txt. in the same directory for instructions how to start it.

Another option for online administration of the preview would be the Telnet administrator where you execute shell commands.

If you're more specific with what configuration tasks you need to perform, we might give you detailed steps of how you can do that with the admin tools available in the Java EE 5 Edition package.

Hope that help!

Hi Ivaylo,

I tried installaing that web based tool on my machine by running the install.bat. However the problem i faced is that once the offline deployment was finished and the program tried to start the server again it never did start. It was always in the "Starting apps" phase. I also tried to manually stop the server and tried restarting but to no effect. I had to re-install the server. Luckily it is small setup so that happened quickly.

I couldnt save the log files from then, however i will give it a try again and let you know the results.

Maybe i will jsut also have a look at the heap sizes.

Hi Sidharth,

How long did you wait? The Web base admin is generaly containes applications and it takes some time to deploy all of them.

I think 20-30 minutes.

Hi there,

I can confirm that it works - I tried it myself with no additional configuration of VM settings whatsoever! However, as Galin pointed out below, it takes quite some time exactly in the phase after offline deployment is done. Did not measure how much exactly, but is definitely more than 10 minutes.

So, be a bit more patient - you'll have to do that just once

Hi,

I can also confirm that it works as described above.

Didn't face any problem at all.

He Reza,

In the SAP JEE Preview version i feel there is no Visual Administrator available. It doesnt come as a separate download also but is part of some SAR file.

Why do you require the tool can you please let us know.
