Hello All
I think I would need some help here.
I tried 'vov4'-->new entries & typed in the following
sales doc type = or
Item cat grp = 0001
Item cat = tak (btw, tak was not a default entry supplied here by R/3)
when I hit 'enter', I get message:-
"Entry TAK does not exist-check your entry"
the intention is to formulate
"o.r"+ Item cat grp(0001) = TAK
what am I doing different here ?
secondly for TANN, It was advised to select item ctgy TANN and use "copy as" button. I went in for the 'define item cat"['vov7']--> select TANN >copy as>what should happen in this screen which says "change view [maintain item cat" ]
the intention was to get a material in the sales order that will behave as a TANN.
Thanks

Shovon,
You can't enter an item category in VOV4 that doesn't exist. You have to create it first.
'Copy As' in VOV7 takes you to a create screen with all the values from the item category you are copying. Change the Item Category from TANN to whatever you want it to be and you will have a new item category defined just like TANN.

Thanks Brian
It's much clear now after your explanation.
I have got it to work for me now. VOV7 is for brand new creations while VOV4 would be playing around with what's already defined inside the R/3. and for the brand new creations, a Z/Y name range was the key.
Thanks again who shared their thoughts & experiences on this one.
