Installation media BPC 10.1 FOR SAP NW on SAP Netweaver 7.51

Hello,

We would like to know if it is currently possible to install BPC 10.1 on SAP netweaver 7.51 / SAP_BW 7.51 ? And if so, what are the installation media to use, particularly for the SAP Netweaver 7.51 ABAP stack required ?

We went through the guides and some SAP notes stating we can install BPC on top of SAP_BW 7.51 running on SAP Netweaver 7.51 :

BPC 10.1 installation guides refers to SAP Netweaver 7.50 / 7.51

This SAP Note also refers to netweaver 7.51 / SAP_BW 7.51 : 2103585 - Product Component Matrix for SAP Business Planning & Consolidation 10.1, version for Net Weaver 7.4/7.5

So it seems like it is available. But , trying to find the right media in the market place , all we can find in regards to this Netweaver 7.51 Stack, is the so called SAP Netweaver 7.51 Innovation package. Now, looking at the SAP note related to the innovation package features ( 2372388 - SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package: Release Information Note) , it states that :

SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package is not a full SAP NetWeaver release.
It contains innovations for the ABAP stack, but does not contain a Java stack.
SAP NetWeaver hubs such as Business Warehouse, Enterprise Portal or Process Orchestration are not included.

So we are a bit puzzled as to which SAP installation media are the right ones in order to have BPC 10.1 running on a Netweaver stack 7.51 / SAP_BW 7.51.

Currently, when I perform a search in available downloads on "7.51", the only results returned are :

SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.51 for SAP S/4HANA 1610

NW AS ABAP 7.51 INNOVATION PKG

Could you point us to the right media to download ?

Should we install the Netweaver AS ABAP 7.51 INNOVATION PKG ?

BPC 10.1 is embedded with Netweaver 7.5. You no longer need any additional add-ons to be installed.

My question is rather related to using Netweaver 7.51 .

As per note 2376449 - SAP BusinessObjects Planning & Consolidation 10.1 on SAP BW 7.51 Central Note, it is supported.

Maybe note 2372388 - SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP 7.51 Innovation Package: Release Information Note is not up-to-date, the latest release time is 14.10.2016.

The installation media for NW 7.51 can be found through INSTALLATIONS AND UPGRADES -> N -> NW AS ABAP INNOVATION PACKAGE -> NW AS ABAP 7.51 INNOVATION PKG -> INSTALLATION.

For new installation, you can also use Maintenance Planner to calculated BPC add-on and NW SPS.

Thank you for these informations.

What I understand now is this installation pattern is supported for BPC usage:
BPC 10.1 / SAP_BW7.51 , based on Netweaver 7.51 innovation package.
BPC is included in the component SAP_BW 7.51 ( ie no more BPC extra component ) .
So this is O.K for BPC usage.


But what I wonder is : is this installation pattern also supported in the case I also want to use full BW 7.51 functionnalities ?
We intend to use this setup for BW and BPC usage types ( only one instance to perform a POC for usage types BPC and BW based on this same SAP Netweaver 7.51 Innovation package stack ).
And note 2372388 states that Business Warehouse hubs are not included in SAP Netweaver 7.51 Innovation Package. Which makes me believe that some BW business processes or functionnalities would not be available.
So we wonder if this "dual usage" pattern ( ie BPC+BW business processes / functionnalities ) is supported currently by SAP, based on Netweaver 7.51 Innovation Package ?

The last thing that is puzzling me for this "dual usage" is the Master guide for Netweaver 7.51 Innovation Package. It does not mention much usages.

For Netweaver 7.51 innovation package, the only use case mentioned in the Master guide is:

● Custom Application Development (ABAP) .

And that's it : No other use cases mentionned.

While, looking at the Netweaver 7.5 master guide , I have these use cases :

● Building Composite Applications [page 20]

● Building Integration Scenarios [page 27]

● Data Warehousing ( which includes here all the applications I want to use 🙂 )

● Mobilizing Business Processes [page 36]

● Integrating and Self-Servicing Content with SAP Enterprise Portal [page 38]

● SAP Knowledge Warehouse [page 40]

● Custom Application Development (ABAP) [page 41]

So this is why I wonder if this Netweaver 7.51 Innovation Package can be used for BW usage and BPC while being fully supported by SAP.

We have recently installed SAP NW 7.51 BPC standard on DB2 database. After the install we found BI_CONT add-on is not supported on NW 7.51. Did anyone faced this issue before? Whats the work around?
