RAM Issue

Hello,

We have distributed Production System on Windows Platform with 4 GB of RAM on Application as well as Database.Now if i increase the RAM by 4GB on each,which are the parameters i need to change at OS level and SAP level.

Please guide on this?

which Operating System you are using (the Exact verions please, because there are diferences between them).

I am using Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition Operating system.

you need to change the parameter PHYS_MEMSIZE to use the extra memory .in the instance profile and restart the system . since sap uses zero memory managemnt the rest of the buffers are automatically adjusted one you restart the system . if you are on 32bit os you need to add /PAE in your boot file on windows

Hi,

SAP recomends to create SWAP partition in RAID 1 and in Windows Performance Options set Virtual Memory as follows:

initial size 2048 MB

maximum size 4096 MB

You may also change memory size in SQL Enterprise Manager\DB instance\preferences\memory tab\'Use a fixed memory size'
