OS Migration using cluster

Former Member

Dear All,

We are planning to migrate (OS) from WIN SRV 2008 to WIN SRV 2012 R2 using Export/Import Method.

Our Current DB is ASE 15.7 and Target DB will be 16.0.

We also want SAP clustering to be installed and Configured in our PROD environment to make it zero downtime.

My understanding is as below

1. Take Export with HA using SWPM

2. Install & configure HA cluster on both the new WIN SRV 2012 R2 severs using SWPM

3. Import it using SWPM by selecting Cutom option

Could you please correct me or guide us with the procedure.

Regards,

Gouri Prasad.

Hi Prasad.

Thanks for your information.

1. Just do the normal export on existing standalone system. before that create the Windows 2012 two nodes cluster system, with latest service pack and windows updates from Microsoft site.

2. I am not sure about the ASE DB. In MS Sql we need to install MS Sql Server group before starting the import action in target Cluster systems.

3. Refer the SAP system copy guide for Windows cluster environment.

Dear Sriram,

Thanks for your valuable information...

We re-planned our approach on the installtion.

1. Install ERP 6.0 EHP 8 on two new windows 2012 R2 servers using cluster environment

2. Take a backup of the existing DB

3. Restore it on the two new server.

Could you please suggest us the procedure or the steps to follow on how to install ERP 6 EHP 8 using cluster environment.

Thanks in advance...

Regards,

Gouri Prasad.

Dear Sriram,

Thanks for your response...

1. First check the current version of SAP system supported Windows 2012? Check in the SAP PAM

Yes, I have checked and it is supported

2. Size of the DB?

It is around 300 GB

3. During the migration you want to keep the same cluster group names or new one?

Currently we don't have cluster configured in Production system

4. Steps are correct. if possible do the same steps (sample run) in QAS or Dev system, before in the production.

We already migrated the DEV & QAS system.

Only PROD is pending .
