ROLES in GERMAN

Hi,

Suppose I create an entry point role and assign it to a portal user.

Then I login and I can see it.

If I click personalize and select GERMAN, how to do make sure the Role Name is also in GERMAN. I need to store the equivalent somewhere.

Is there a way to do this?

Ive read something about Worklist but I dont know how to use it. Could anyone please help me on this.

Thanks.

I added my folder containing a role to the translation worklist. Clicked Generate translation data and then release worklist for translation. But now im stuck. How do i view the translated roles in portal in german. How is the translation carried out?

Suppose i have a role called "ABC" and when i select german i want it viewed as "PQR"

Hi,

Goto content administration -> portal content translation -> translation worklist coordination -> create a new "translation worklist" .

Open the Translation worklist.

Right click on the role -> select "add object to translation worklist". Click on the "Generate translation data". The role will get added to it. Click Release for Translation.

Check the property "Translation Worklist Status". It shud be to "Released for Translation".( It means the object is released for translation.).

Goto Worklist translation and search the worklist. Select the source language as English and Target Language - German. Click on load for translation. Here you can define the target text.

Once translated, click on Save All. And "mark as translated". Now check the property "Translation Worklist Status". It shud be " Translated". Now it is ready.

Hope it solves the issue.

Hi Saravan,

Thank you very much for the explanation.

It solved my problem.

Assigned points to both of you.

Just one more question before I close this thread.

There were many languages in the Target Language dropdown. Among them were some "non roman character" languages too like Korean. I guess these words have to be typed in UTF hex code assuming we have some resource bundles in place. That way even German has some of these charaters. If we see in any of sap's apr files well find them. Those single characters are typed in resource bundles using hex code (e.g. \u065F etc.)

Suppose we have such characters in the ROLE NAME, how do we put it in the TARGET TEXT?

Thanks again.

Hi,

I have no experiences with Korean etc. But in german, you can type in the special characters (like ü, ä, ö) directly without using any hex-code

Kind regards
