Server does not start

Dear all,

I installed the NetWeaver 2004 S AS Java 7.0 on my Laptop. Previously it was working without any problems. But for the last two days it's not working. In the SAP Management Console the server-node shows the J2EE-Server some process is running.

Another thing is, that I noticed, the database log is full (100%).

If anyone have a solution, please help me.

Regards

Semih

Hi Semih,

You will have to increase the log volumes. This you may do in the SAP MMC. Make sure that SAPDB WWW service is running.

Under "Configuration" click on Volumes and in the Log tab add a new log volume. You will have to restart the DB once.

Try this out and let us know if this helps.

Hello Sidharth,

thank u, it works. But by increasing the log volume (the current size is 2 GB) the hard disk is overfilled with just these logs.

And if i create another data volume, it has again a size of 2GB!

Hi Semih,

Just activate the config so that DB redo log(s) would be overwritten. If you are using SAP DB, check the following URL : http://forum.mysql.com/doc/maxdb/en/8a/7a4e3c8976933ce10000000a11405a/content.htm

Hi,

to be able to make room on the logs, adding more Logvolumes is <b>not</b> the solution. You should either make Log backups (which can be done automatically), which can be done after an initial full data backup has been performed.

If your Data volumes fill up, then you should add new Data volumes.

And yes, if preferred, you could also switch on the automatic overwriting of the log. This has some downsides (not being able to recover to certain points in time for example), so please be careful when activating this.

Roland

Thank u all.

I think an automatical overwriting of the logs is the best solution for me.

Hi,

first of all, it's a Windows tool only atm.

Where to get it?

If you're an official SAP customer:
