XSS components on WAS 6.40 or J2EE 7.0?

Hello All,

We have implemented ESS 60.2 and MSS 60.1.2 on NW 2004s SR1 and ERP 2004 (ECC 5.0). Most of the ESS applications work fine. But, clicking on any of the buttons other than "Exit" after clicking "Edit" button in the Personal Information triggers a 500 internal server error.

It says, "Failed to process request. Please contact your System Administrator". The intial exception that caused the request to fail was:

"com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Exit-Plug must no be triggered with an URL when using in the portal. Use portal navigation instead to navigate to another application!"

After raising the OSS note with the SAP for this, we were told that this issue is because the XSS components (ESS 100, MSS 100 and PCUI GP 100 all till SP 12) were installed on the same Portal J2EE 7.0 instead of a separate server where WAS 6.40 is installed.

Now, could anybody who have implemented ESS/MSS in this NW2004s and ECC 5.0 environment please let us know, if you have also faced this issue. If you have solved this issue, could you also let us know the solution other than installing a new 6.40 WAS box?

Thanks so much in advance,

Sunitha
