why set up tables are there only for LOs and not for other(meansFinance)?

Hi Ramrao,

It all depends on how the source modules were built.

The LO Cockpit modules were designed to collect and summarize data into InfoStructures(S001 to S999 tables using a technique called V3 update. As LO documents were saved (created or changed), the InfoStructures were updated. The BW LO cockpit extractors use the same technique to stage the data for pick up. The Set Up table is an artifact from the initial fill of InfoStructures.

The FI module used a different method. FI documents are always created. They may be reversed with a new document, but they are never changed. Summary tables for the current open period are populated in real time. A closed period is on in which balances are no longer updated.

The SAP BW extractor for FI can use "always add" logic in its extractor, since documents are never changed.
