Where is the git hunk / interactive staging feature in Web IDE?

I am working with the Web IDE developing Fiori appliations. As far as I can see, the builtin git client/interface does not support interactive staging aka git hunks. This is a serious impediment in my development practice, as I am forced to always commit all changes from a file, even if the changes don't belong to other changes in the file which I might want to actually commit. It messes up the resulting git history. It forces me to remove debugging lines from the file explicitly---because otherwise Gerrit will not let the commit pass---and later I will have to reenter these debug lines again if I want to keep using them.

I feel this is an unacceptable lack of functionality which I don't see the reasoning behind.

Lack of this feature turns git into a blunt backup tool; The Web IDE might as well just keep track of my changes when I press "save" in the editor.

One of my colleagues said "You're just using it wrong!" when I kept messing up my commits, to which my response is: I'm not using it wrong. It's just that the tool's handle was removed and now I have to clutch the blade directly, which leads to me cutting myself.

If you want people to use git in the Web IDE, please make a real git available.

Hi Michael and thanks for your feedback.
I have forwarded this to the relevant product owner of the Git integration in Web IDE and he will reply here.
