BW iViews performance in EP 6.0

Hi All,

I'm currently having some performance problems while calling BW Report iView's, I have tried mostly everything and even though the iviews run properly the speed could be a lot better and sometimes take time for the screens to respond.

I'm using EP6.0 connected via SSO to BW3.0B, iView's are SAP BW Report iView's.

I'm using FQDN in the systems and the iView's

Any suggestions???

Regards

Juan

Hi Juan,

Typically the performance problem with BW iViews is the time it take to run the report, and not the portal. One thing to check and see is if the BW report iview are embedded or isolated. If they are embedded, the portal waits for the iviews on a page to completely render before sending the entire portal page. If they are set to isolated, then the rest of the page will render and the iView will "clock" until the report is finished.

You may also try to optimize some of the network speed. Check out the guide on service marketplace: https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000073623&_SCENARIO=011000358700000002.... Expand the ALL tab and download the guide called Optimizing Network Traffic in EP 6.0. It says it is for older versions but most of the info still holds true.

Good luck.

Hi John,

Thanks for the quick reply!

One thing to check and see is if the BW report iview are embedded or isolated.

I can't see any entry on the properties related to this, I can only see "Isolation method" and it's grey out. Can you give me more details? this sound very interesting.

Extra info: The same reports that we are trying to display via SAP BW Report Iview's run very quickly using BEx.

I'm going to read that Optimazing Network guide.

Regards

Juan

Hello Juan,

Did you check the logs in backend ?

E.g. SM50 , SM51 ..also RSA3 related to performance

Please refer to the documentation below.

Hope this helps!

Well... Seems like disabling the "Allow Client-Side Caching" improve the performance of the iView a lot!
