how to set default shipping point

Good day all

I have 2 plants which are plants 3000 and 3100 .both have different shipping points

IN 3000 the product created and is then moved to plant 3100 where it is sold .

so both plants 3000 and 3100 have the material number created .

*Please note for other products which are created in plant 3000 are also sold from plant 3000.

the problem I am having is :

When I create a sales order once I input the material number in line item it automatically selects plant 3000 with the shipping point linked to plant 3000.

It can be changed manually on the sales order but I want it to default to plant 3100 and the shipping point linked to that plant.

Because when i create a delivery with vl01 it does not allow me to create a delivery until I change the plant / shipping point on the sales order to match the shipping point I use to create a delivery.

What have you tried so far?

What about using customer material info records? If there are just a few exceptions from the general rule - this is a viable and cheap option.

If it finally turns out that you have a really complex logic for plant determination or the maintenance, then you would probably end up with a custom development.
