Our business is changing profit centers in the middle of the current year and would like to restate the balance on p&l accounts to the new profit center at a year to date amount. They can change the profit center on cost center master data, but when they try to post an entry using FB50 to move the old profit center balance to the new profit center, SAP changes the credit side of the entry to the new profit center. I've change the message KI339 to a warning in OBA5 but the profit center is still changed.
I also tried using the profit center posting transaction 9KE0 but keep getting an error message about number range assignment. I update the number range but the error message remains. I've updated it in SNRO and GB02. I've read since we are on NEW GL and profit centers are now in GL and not in Controlling, that transaction doesn't work.
I get the same error when I try to use assessment cycle 3KE5.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Michael for keep us posted.

Never mind. The number range for document type A0 for 9KE0 was assigned to the wrong grouping. It works now.

Hi Michael,
Transaction 9KE0 is no longer relevant as it was part of “classic” EC-PCA and can only be used when the ‘profit center accounting’ component is activated in the controlling area, and we all know New G/L you do not need to activate profit center accounting in the controlling area, but instead you should assign the profit center scenario to the relevant ledgers in General Ledger Accounting.
SAP recommend to use -
1) assessment or distribution to move the value from one profit center to new profit center.
2) Of course, you can also do new 'profit center reorganization' which little overwork.
3) GL posting FB50 - and with real-time FI/CO integration functionality every CO posting that involve two different profit center will create a journal entry too, check t-code OK17, and click on display account determination, that GL you will see that several posting are made, but the balance of this account is always Zero because there is no GL impact.
Thanks,
Nishan Dev
