Fiori Launchpad - Dynamic Tile information is missing when Remote Catalogs are used

Hello All,

We are running SAP NetWeaver Portals 7.40 SP16 and Fiori Launchpad is the entry point for all applications. We have a dedicated NetWeaver Gateway system (7.40 SP16) and following central hub deployment architecture for Fiori development. Standard fiori components are installed on gateway system. We configured Fiori launchpad on Gateway system (ABAP Frontend server), created required catalogs, groups and roles. We can access Fiori applications on Gateway fine. But when we access through Fiori Launchpad on Portal through Remote Catalogs, Dynamic tile information is missing. We could be able to see dynamic information (number, unit label, icon) when hover the mouse over the tile though.

SAP UI5 Version on Gateway 1.38.11

We have changed SAPUI5 Library source on portal to ABAP for Fiori Framework Page to use the catalogs created in Gateway system. I have attached screenshots of Fiori Frame Page configuration, Launchpad on Gateway, Launchpad on Portal.

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Hi Sudheer,

in the meantime I updated our Gateway-System to SAPUI5 1.38.33 => when I now call the Launchpad on the Gateway-System I have the same error that the Information on the Dynamic Tiles is missing. I cleared all caches, but nothing helps.

Did you find a solution for this?

Hello Oliver,

SAP came back with a recommendation that FES ABAP UI5 version has to be at least 1.38.21 to solve the issue. We upgraded to the required UI5 level and it worked.

We are on the same UI5 versions as you are. Portal (1.38.20) and Gateway (1.38.11). We didn't find the solution yet. Opened an OSS message and working with SAP. As per our earlier conversations with SAP, Having higher UI5 version on portal is fine for remote catalogs. But dynamic tiles are not working.

Please let us know if you find solution.

I also opened an OSS message, the support wants more information, I'm going to provide this information later.

Think this is a bug, because in Fiori Launchpad on Gateway System everything works fine.

I got feedback from SAP.

They told me to change the SAPUI5-Source to JAVA in the FFP-Configuration and it worked for me. See also note 2261419.

I updated our Portal from NW 7.50 SP4 to 7.50 SP7 and now have the same issue (dynamic tile information missing). I also cleared the cache, but this has no effect.

Did you find a solution for the problem? I think the problem is the SAP UI5 version on Portal (1.38.20) and Gateway (1.38.11).

Thanks for your response.

The behaviour is same for all users across all browsers. we couldn't see dynamic tile information (number and unit labels). I have cleared the personalization data and there is no change in behaviour. I have checked the browser console and error logs in gateway. There is no errors. We could see OData calls (fetching dynamic info at refresh intervals) which brings the numbers back, But just not displaying on the tile.

Based upon the scenario that you have described in summary you mentioned the following:

Ok firstly in relation to accessing the FLP@EP via Remote Catalogs could you kindly let me know if this behavior surrounding the Dynamic Tiles is occurring for each and every user/in all Web Browser Platform types?

From a functional perspective after the first logon, changes made to tiles will no be updated in the Home page by design as per SAP KBA: 2223938 - Tiles are not updated in the FLP Home page therefore I would recommend trying cache clearing again to ensure this is not a caching issue.

Also did you reproduce the issue and take a look at tracing to see if there is any underlying error exceptions? The fact the information appears upon mouse over is quite peculiar indeed.
