PI 7.0 installation error (Nw04s)

Hello all,

We are currently trying to install PI 7.0 but an error occured.

Installed DVD used are :

- Oracle 1 51031678_1

- Oracle 2 51031678_2

- Oracle 3 51031678_3

- Oracle 4 51031678_4

- Oracle 5 51031678_5

- Patch oracle 51031725_2

- Master installer 51031797_11

- Java 51031693_1 et 51031693_2

- Export database 51031690_1

- Oracle client 51031613_10

- Kernel 51031778_3

- Kernel unicode 51031778_11

Until step 27 of install, all is OK.

Now we have the following error on step 28 (Start Instance) :

During 10 minutes the following message appeared in task bar :

Starting SXI/DVEBMGS01 [ABAP : MSNOTRUNNING]Elapsed time N:NN minutes

Then the installation process is stopped and we have 3 choices :

- Retry (do the same thing again)

- Stop (terminates installation)

- View Log : (sapinst_dev.log)

  Java instance 00 is ok
  
  ABAP instance has yellow status and in process list we can find only strdbs.cmd process (yellow status)

  We tryed to restart ABAP instance manually a lot of time.
  
  During ABAP instance restart, we look process list of it and click on refresh button :
  
  We can see :
  
  - sapcpe.exe (yellow)
  
  then
  
  - strdbs.cmd (yellow)
  
  and it is like strdbs.cmd have a pb because nothing append after....
  
  Nothing start...
  
  We tried to launch strcmd manualy with dos command and this is the result :

After a lot of manual starts and stop, ABAP instance has successfully start.

We don't know exactly which manipulation is responsible of this success

We have stopped the installation process and launch it again. Step 28 is now ok.

We are currently waiting for the next error step or the final 93th step 😊)

However it Couldbe memory issue. Also just check for this entry in error logs:

message server port normally is 3600.In ur case it is 3901.Are there mutiple instances installed on the same machine? May be u need to increase the memory coz this issue may reoccur.

Again try to manually stqrt the JAVA engine. it is a memory problem in my opinion.

Hello Jean,
2GB RAM is pretty good. TRy to increase SWAP space a bit. Also I guess manual restart should get you over with this issue as well.

  As Ruchit Khushu mentioned 2 GB Ram is sufficient,
  If many Applications are in your system then it is better to go for more memory and increase the Swap.

I know it's a late responce but I've had a similar problems but on Unix instead. My MS for ABAP didn't start because of adress already in use which mean that port 3900 was in use.

If I ran stopsap and killed the sapstartsrv processes and then ran startsap everything went up OK.

To translate it to windows... Stop SAP in MMC, stop DB, stop SAPService (or what ever it's called in Services). Restart everything and I guess it will start up.

My installation stopped at start Java engine as well and I've come so far that it's because SAPInst can't get the status for the servers (ABAP and Java) and therefor can't continue.

Just my 2 cents.
