Is there a way to restrict LTL freight orders to one stage during optimizer planning?

One way is to restrict using the master data by setting up transportation lanes accordingly.

But this solution doesn't support other business requirements.

Tried looking for incompatibility settings but there is no incompatibility definition which can support Means of Transport V/s Freight Order Stages.

Hence looking for the solution to this problem in standard SAP TM functionality to meet this business requirement.

There are relevant configuration options in the Planning Costs Settings, which are used on the Planning Profile.

In the Planning Costs Settings, check the Means-of-Transport Setting Details. In the Additional Stops section for LTL, you could define the Cost per Additional Intermediate Stop higher than the non-delivery cost or adjust the Maximum Number of Stops to meet your requirement.

Thanks Sarah for your inputs. We are trying out this option and hopefully it resolves the given problem.

Hi Sarah,

We tried both of your suggested solutions and below are the test results.

1. Maximum number of stops : Considering that we need only one stage LTL Freight Order, Maximum number of stops was maintained as 2 on Means-of-Transport Setting Section of Planning Costs Settings of Planning Profile Used in optimizer planning.

Even after above setting was done, optimizer still planned two stage LTL FO. Thus system is not respecting "Maximum Number of Stops" setting for LTL during optimizer planning.

2. Cost per Additional Intermediate Stop : This was maintained as higher than the "Costs for Non-Delivery", in LTL Means of Transport Setting Section of Planning Costs Settings of Planning Profile Used in optimizer planning.

After above setting was done, optimizer planned Two stage IML FO instead of earlier two-stage LTL FO. We are checking with business whether they are good with this setting and associated test result.

Meanwhile, could you please check and let us know your thoughts on the issue mentioned for Maximum number of stops in point # 1 given above.

Thanks and Regards,
