Why does SAP not use IDOCs for SuccessFactors Employee Central Core hybrid integration?

Dear all,

It's now common knowledge that for EC to ERP HCM masterdata replication scenario, SAP has a very sophisticated add-on called PA_SE_IN. Having used this add-on, I can really vouch for its veracity.

But, there are always anomalies in the system. I have a Brazilian customer who wants to use ALE/IDocs for EC to ERP HCM masterdata integration. They say and I quote, "why not use the PA IDoc, powered by FM, IDOC_INPUT_HRMD_PAD".

I am not an IDoc expert. I did have a brief look at the FM and it seems to be quite exhaustive too. The customer understands that this is not as exhaustive as PA_SE_IN in terms of confirmation message/logs etc. But, they're nevertheless ok with it.

Should I go ahead and implement this? What are the potential pitfalls, if at all any?

Cheers, Marty

Data is coming from EC, hence we don't have change pointers there, we rely on last modified date/time

i would recommend to stick with standard migration contect, can you advise what issues you see with standard one?

Although we rely on change pointers for ERP to EC Migration
